breast cancer spread to lymph nodes

Lymph nodes may swell every time they produce white blood cells to ward off infection. For example, the

nodes may swell from the formation of an abscess (a sealed bag filled with pus) in the node. However, the lymph nodes can also swell if they contain cancer cells.
A biopsy is the perfect way to determine whether lymph nodes are enlarged because they contain cancer cells. Some doctors say that the lymph nodes are more likely to be benign. If the lymph nodes
of less than one centimeter in diameter and soft, supple and soft, it is more likely to experience swelling due to benign causes.

Many doctors feel that in patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, it is usually wise to be cautious and biopsy of any enlarged lymph nodes if the nodes to swell beyond the last for a month or two because it may contain cancer cells. It is important for patients and doctors to work out a plan about how long the lymph nodes have to last before it must be eliminate.

In some cases, enlarged nodes may be sample by usg-guided needle biopsy. However, there may be a higher risk of cancer cells is lost if a needle biopsy done rather than removal of the entire node.
Small wounds on the skin on the side of a mastectomy can be infecte more easily than in the other arm injury. This is because, and lymph nodes were removing, leaving the arm is more susceptible to organisms such as bacteria invade.

Serves to drain lymphatic fluid from the limb and the lymph nodes act, in some sense, as filters, removing harmful substances from the lymph fluid.
Axillary in women who had undergone surgery in the area may have a higher chance of venous thrombosis, especially if a more complete axillary dissection with removal of about 30 or more lymph nodes done. This is because the lymph nodes are usually located near blood vessels and (unavoidable) scarring at or near the axillary vein may result from surgery.

At the time of mastectomy patients should be careful not to exercise too intensely in order to avoid injuries can be prevented. Therefore, many physicians recommend tempering the exercise of the upper limb after surgery with periods of rest and keep your arms high above heart level for several hours, to avoid undue swelling.
